Violet Kind is the director of Satori Violet Dance Company and the creator of trademarked dance language, Fly Fusion®. Since her first years on earth, dance has been the most fun and free-flowing creative expression she’s experienced. In 2005, she began her first belly dance classes with instructor Anna Melzer and fell madly in-love with the dance form. Fusion belly dance provided a new canvas with limited restrictions and vibrant possibilities.

In 2011, after a few years of classes and dancing with a local performing troupe, she created Satori Violet in hopes of sharing her passion for belly dance with a wider audience and gaining a larger creative outlet. She has since taught in multiple locations and instructed hundreds of students. Her focus as a teacher is not only to educate, but to teach her students to enjoy the dance as much as she does.

Violet believes there is always more to learn and feels it’s her duty as both an instructor and performer to continue pursuing a dance education regularly from a variety of skilled dancers. To date, she has studied with many of the greats, such as: Rachel Brice, Zoe Jakes, Carolena Nericcio-Bolhman, Maria Hamer, Amy Sigil, Ashley Lopez, Sharon Kihara, Ashley Lopez, Olivia Kissel, and many more (while the list continues to grow)! Violet has successfully completed Phase I and Phase II of Rachel Brice’s 8 Elements™ approach. She is a 2014 graduate of Shannon Townsend’s Movement Utilizing Stage Emotives (M.U.S.E.) program.

Recently, Violet completed Zoe Jakes’ Key of Diamonds™ intensive and started The Bleuebellatrix Project. She also helped create international dance group Dubrikato, which features dancers Charlotte Wassell of England and Stacey McPartlin of Ireland. They are planning dates for European workshops and performances in 2017.

Gina Wegner

BELLY DANCE INSTRUCTOR

Gina Wegner has felt a strong connection to music and dance since she can remember. Her mother signed her up for dance classes when she was three which she continued through the age of thirteen. Her sophomore year she joined her high school danceline team which she participated in through her senior year. Before she knew it, college, kids, and a full time job took up the majority of her time and she found herself missing dance.

In 2013 Gina took an ATS beginner class with Satori Violet and was immediately hooked. She now takes multiple belly dancing classes through Satori Violet and also enjoys performing regularly. She loves the challenge and is inspired each week by all the wonderful people she gets the honor of dancing with.

Blair McLaughlin

BELLY DANCE INSTRUCTOR

Blair’s dance journey began when she became a Satori Violet student. Belly dance has been an awakening for her as it never occurred to her that she might be able to belly dance, much less take so much enjoyment from it!

And enjoy it she has. One of her passions is to apply her love of crafts to belly dance costuming: Upcycling clothing into hip scarves and over-skirts, transforming broken jewelry into head-pieces, and utilizing her needlecraft skills.

Blair is honored to be the instructor of Belly Dance 101. She knows the importance of this class; the laying down of a strong foundation and drilling is quite important and she strives to make things enjoyable too. She feels the tone of Belly Dance 101 shouldn’t be too serious as everyone comes for different reasons, but first and foremost is to have a good time. Blair is also the instructor, and creator, of Episode 201: The Belly Dancer Strikes Back.

Blair believes any person, no matter their experience, body type, or musicality, can greatly enjoy belly dance!

Barbara Young

YOGA INSTRUCTOR

Barbara started her Yoga journey the summer of 2006 at Yoga Vista, in Vista, CA, after recovering from a frozen shoulder. Although she still did not have complete range of motion, by practicing Yoga 2-3 times a week, not only did she regain most of that range of motion, she also gained flexibility, strength and the ability to begin to totally relax. In Fall of 2011 she completed the 200 hour Teacher Training offered at Sun Moon Yoga Mankato and began teaching at Sun Moon Yoga Mankato. She taught Beginners classes, Gentle classes, Happy Hour/Basic Hatha classes, and assisted in YogaCare classes.

In spring of 2014 she and her husband opened their own home studio, Horse & Dragon Yoga & Reiki, LLC. She teaches 2-3 classes a week of Basic/Gentle Yoga in their home studio. Her focus is not only teaching basic Yoga poses, she also emphasizes the Mudras (hand positions with specific intentions accompanied by focused breathing), helping the student to become more in tune with his/her body, providing ways to help silence the mind chatter and focusing on relaxation.

In February of 2014, she also started her Belly Dancing journey at Satori Violet Dance Company and is having the time of her life, enjoying the company and friendship of a community of beautiful, crazy fun women while learning this awesomely fun ancient and modern art form. She is the creator an instructor of our Wise Women Belly Dance & Yoga class.

Patrice Hundstad

BELLY DANCE INSTRUCTOR
Patrice Hundstad has been belly dancing since 2000 and teaching on and off for for years. She has studied many types of dance since age three, but this dance form really drew her. She trained under Bridget Donnelly at the Sun/Moon Yoga Studio, who had been part of the Raks Sharqi Dance Co from Albert Lea. Patrice had been looking for a chance to study belly dance since she was very young and she saw a demonstration of it on a very old talk show. That is where she first learned figure eights and snake arms.
Patrice continued to pursue the study of the dance under Souraya Sadaka at the Sun/Moon Yoga Studio, who had been dancing since she was 5. She learned a many wonderful things from her and was very sad to see her go when she moved back to Lebanon. It was from both Souraya and Bridget that taught Patrice to really listen to the music and let it bring the movements. The most important thing she learned from Souraya was “Everything is a move”.
Patrice continue to learning by attending classes and workshops and has gained a wide variety of experience by doing this. She has attended many classes in Persian Classical Dance with Leili Pritschet which shares some similarities to Middle Eastern Dance. Patrice has also attended classes at the Cassandra School on an intermittent basis. Patrice has taken workshops with Read My Hips (American Tribal), Cassandra (Floor Work), Jasmin Jahal, Dahlena, Delilah, Artemis Mourat, Sakira of Ohio (Sword and Shimmy), and Aziza Sa’id, Princess Farhana, Karen Barbee, Darshan, to name a few.
Patrice also has a background in Tai Chi Ch’uan and Kung Fu (she especially likes the Shaolin Double Sword form) which has been a great help to her in creating my many sword dances and the portion of her Fire Dance.
